Captain Stanley Wendelewski
Director of Environmental Compliance
Based in Houston, Captain Wendelewski is a graduate of New York Maritime College at Fort Schuyler. He has spent 16 years at sea sailing in licensed capacities, including Master and Chief Officer aboard a variety of tanker ships, including Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) vessels. Since coming ashore in 2006, Capt. Wendelewski has worked in a variety of technical management positions with vessel owners and operators, including, but not limited to, External / Internal Company & Vessel Auditing, Investigations, Safety Management System Development & Enhancement, Environmental & Regulatory Compliance, and Oil Major TMSA & SIRE Vetting. Prior to joining Scorpio, Capt. Wendelewski was Director of Vetting and Audits (Americas) for Phillips 66 Oil Company as well as Director of Marine LNG & FSRU (Floating Storage Regasification Unit) Operations at Excelerate Energy.
Captain Abhishek Arora
Environmental Compliance Auditor and Trainer
Captain Abhishek Arora is a licensed Master Mariner with a degree in Nautical Science and over 25 years of global maritime experience across diverse vessel operations. An accomplished auditor and trainer, he specializes in environmental compliance, safety management systems, and quality assurance. His expertise spans the development of Safety Management Systems, environmental frameworks, and practical training programs aligned with international standards. Since joining SECAT in 2024, he has been instrumental in supporting ship managers and crews through Environmental Compliance Audits, shipboard training in Environmental Compliance, internal investigations into accidents, casualties, and compliance incidents, and the continuous improvement of environmental and regulatory compliance standards.
Captain Natarajan Arumugam
Environmental Compliance Auditor and Trainer
Captain Natarajan Arumugam is a licensed Master with a degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering, and 18 Years of experience at sea sailing on Crude and Product tank vessels. He then served as a shoreside Quality, Health, and Environmental Compliance Superintendent from 2015 – 2017 for a third-party technical manager, and has been an Environmental Compliance Auditor and Trainer with SECAT since 2017. In that capacity, he has assisted ship managers with Environmental Compliance Audits and Compliance Training and Shipboard Investigations in connection with Environmental Related Internal Reports. He has also assisted with various supporting activities related to the Safe Management of Vessels including planning and conducting shipboard and shoreside Internal Audits, preparing, reviewing, and updating Safety Management Systems, conducting Accident and other Incident Investigations; Developing and implementing Corrective Actions on Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Related matters, carrying outthe Screening and Review of Audit Reports; Initiating the Management Of Change Process and the implementation of MOC Processes; serving as a Team Member in reviewing Environmental Aspects and Impacts; supporting various departments for preparation of Tanker Management and Self-Assessment Audits; preparing appropriate Corrective Actions with the company’s team, and developing Management Reviews.
Captain Edwin Macalma
Environmental Compliance Auditor and Trainer
Captain Edwin Macalma is a licensed Master Mariner with extensive experience in vessel operations, maritime safety, training, and environmental compliance, and holds a Master’s degree in Maritime Administration specializing in Port Safety and Environmental Protection. He progressed at sea from Deck Cadet to Master on a wide range of vessels, including VLCCs, oil tankers, bitumen carriers, and general cargo ships, developing strong operational expertise in safety management, regulatory compliance, and crew leadership. Following his seagoing career, he has held shore‑based roles in maritime operations and training, including Commercial Operator and Training Superintendent, and has served as an instructor and assessor delivering safety, compliance, and leadership training across multiple maritime institutions. Captain Macalma joined SECAT in 2025, where he conducts environmental and compliance audits, supports ship managers and crews, and delivers training aligned with international maritime safety and environmental regulations.
Chief Engineer Kiran Kumar Relan
Environmental Compliance Auditor and Trainer
Chief Engineer Kiran Kumar Relan is a licensed Chief Engineer with an extensive technical background now serving as a SECAT Environmental Compliance Auditor and Trainer following over 20 years of sailing experience in different capacities, of which 13 years was been in Senior Officer positions of Chief Engineer and First Assistant Engineer positions onboard various vessel types, including Container Ships, Ore and Bulk Oil (OBO) carriers, Oil Tankers and Chemical Tankers. He joined SECAT in 2018 and has vast experience conducting Environmental Compliance Audits, Internal Examinations and Inspections, Internal investigations, Technical Audits, Engineering Guidance and Troubleshooting and Training, Compliance Training andInternational Safety Management (ISM) Audits. He provides technical guidance and conducts training on various platforms for ship and shore staff to assist their knowledge of various engineering and environmental regulations and to assist crews and shore staff to keep apprised of the latest maritime developments. Chief Engineer Relan also provides inputs and expertise to equipment manufacturers, ship builders, digital platforms, and similar entities in connection with the design and testing of new vessels and in connection with maritime software development. He also provides consultation services from time to time with Classification Societies, Flag States, and Port State authorities regarding the clarification and implementation of international environmental regulations.
